Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
The new Salt Lake City International Airport offers visitors a more convenient, comfortable, modernized travel experience. The airport’s ability to handle 34 million passengers per year positions Salt Lake City for economic growth as an increasingly popular tourism and business destination.
Kawneer Collaborative worked to create custom systems that are able to withstand seismic forces in this earthquake-prone region. Custom Kawneer systems such as our 1600 SS Curtain Wall System, 1600 Wall System®1 and System®2 Curtain Wall, Clearwall® Curtain Wall System and Trifab® VersaGlaze® 451T Framing System were integrated throughout the airport.
Floor-to-ceiling views provided by Kawneer’s systems help draw in natural daylight while providing expansive views of the landing field as well as the nearby Wasatch Mountains. The natural, earth-toned interior and exterior finishes connect travelers to Salt Lake City’s unique, western surroundings.
The project has achieved LEED Gold® as its sustainable design helps minimize the airport’s environmental footprint through high-performance glazing, daylighting, energy-efficient mechanical and lighting systems as well as an efficient configuration of terminal and gate locations.
New dining and retail options reflect Utah’s culture and overall experience. Branding and wayfinding systems designed by HOK reflect the region’s adventurous spirit while assisting travelers in navigating the airport.
