The Ascension Parish Courthouse was designed with modern security in mind to accommodate the current and future requirements of the Ascension Parish Court and the 23rd Judicial District Court. The 3-story building includes eight courtrooms, judges’ chambers and administrative spaces for the Clerk of Court and Ascension Parish Council staff members.
Kawneer’s Trifab® VersaGlaze® 451T Framing System, 1600 Wall System®1 Curtain Wall and Clearwall® Curtain Wall System were used in the project to draw natural light into the building, provide added security for staff and prevent the passage of contraband to those in custody. 500 Wide Stile Entrances were also used to create a monumental visual statement and provide superior strength.
The courthouse project received numerous awards in 2021, including the IDEA Award of Recognition from the International Interior Design Association, the Rose Award from the American Institute of Architects in Baton Rouge and the Good Growth Award from the Baton Rouge Growth Coalition.
