Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
The Art Gallery of Alberta occupies an area of 8,000 square meters (86,000 sq. ft.), including 3,000 square meters (32,000 sq. ft.) of climate-controlled exhibition spaces. Its stunning design made with patinated zinc and stainless steel shows the museum’s commitment to contemporary art. Edmonton’s natural elements are also expressed in its façade, as the North Saskatchewan River, for instance, is represented by a 190-meter (620-foot) steel ribbon.
